3,000 people marry in mass wedding ceremony

More than 3,000 people have married in a mass wedding ceremony taking place in South Korea.

The Unification Church ceremony took place in honour of the ministry's late founder Sun Myung Moon, who died in September.

The ceremony is referred to as 'Moonie', and some of the couple taking part had met just days before. Some don't even speak the same language.

American student Jin Davidson, 21, married Kotona Shimizu, a 21-year-old from Japan.

He said: "We struggle a little to communicate right now, as I speak no Japanese at all and she only speaks a little English, but we see it as an exciting challenge and proof of our faith."

Newlywed Anna Misook, who also took part in the ceremony with her Congolese-Brazilian groom, said: "We met four days ago by True Mother's matching.

"And we are happy to be here and, yeah, looking forward to life together and yeah It's a good life, good, we're happy. We're really happy."
